Sometimes waiting to reach our goal can feel like an eternity, especially when that goal is fat loss.
Any goal that truly means something to you is most likely going to be a journey, and a long one at that because it takes hard work and dedication to get to the destination.
So what do you do when you’re lacking motivation?
What about when you can’t quiet see the end of the tunnel anymore?
This can be one of the hardest parts of the journey, but the first thing you need to realize is that everyone goes through this part.
This isn’t just you.
This does not mean you are weak or that you will not reach your goal.
This just means the mission to get to the goal is throwing you the biggest curve ball it has, so think of it as a test to see how bad you want it.
Now I know it’s not as simple as realizing it’s a test and then continuing on. Because your still going to be in the moment of that struggle, but that’s ok. There are ways to help you get through the struggle.
First and most important thing to get you through this is to remember why you’re doing this.
There are many ways to keep yourself reminded and accountable of why you’re on the mission that you’re on. My favorite is to have it written down and on you at all times. I know multiple successful people who have their goals written on a piece of paper in their pocket… 24-7! Some even have goals for the day, week, month, and year; all on them constantly.
Now if this is a little extreme for you or you don’t have that many goals right now, that’s ok. But you know for a fact you have AT LEAST one goal that you can have on you at all times.
So start by writing down your end goal and exactly how you will take steps to get there and keep it in your pocket or on your phone so that you can always refer back to it when you are in that struggle. Some may even keep a picture of their end goal to have a visual reminder, may seem cheesy but it works!
Personally, I have my monthly and yearly goals written in my phone and have my daily goals written on a notepad paper. But I refer to these both on a daily basis to make sure I am on track.
Another great tip to stay motivated towards your goals is to surround yourself by motivated people. If you are constantly around people who are succeeding in likewise goals, then you’re put into a contagious atmosphere.
If you want to lose fat, surround yourself with people who are also losing fat and doing a great job at it.
If your goal is to start your own business, hangout with entrepreneurs.
You should always be surrounded by influences that will help you attain your goals, not the other way around. One of the biggest factors of failure is having negative surroundings; don’t let anything or anyone hold you back.
Something that can also help you get out of your rut and stay motivated is to get creative. If you’re trying to lose weight but you eat chicken and steamed broccoli for every single meal, every single day… SWITCH IT UP!
We’re human beings and we get tired of the same stuff over and over again, so get creative. Whether you’re reading the same type of books, doing the same workouts, eating the same foods, or using the same programs, you should switch it up.
Just because it’s not the same, doesn’t mean it can’t be applied to the same goal. Give yourself a break from the norm and try something new; this will easily help you stay positive and progressing towards your goals.
And last but not least, get a coach. A coach is someone who can help hold you accountable regardless of the goal and journey you are on.
This could be a financial coach, a strength coach, a nutritionist, a business coach or a life coach. People don’t become successful without using others ideas, experiences and help to better their own situation to progress forward.
