The New Year is upon us, which means its resolutions time. Many people think it’s corny and skip it, or they have never stuck to their goals which makes them decide it’s pointless.
All that tells me is that they do not want to grow from where they currently are.
“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer. “ –Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold said it best. Improvement is what life is all about. You should never stop growing or progressing forward. Life is not about standing still; it’s about moving forward consistently and constantly.
So what are you going to do this New Year to get better? Ask your self, think very hard and write them down. Keep this paper close to you.
I wrote mine down this last week, twice. I have one taped to my wall next to my mirror. Every morning I am going to be reminded exactly what I am striving for this year and it will keep me working towards it on a daily basis.
My other piece of paper with my 2014 goals is in my wallet, which is on me daily. I also typed it in my notepad on my phone.
The point is, no matter where I am I have my goals on me or right in front of me. This is because these are things that I am passionate about accomplishing and I can’t forget the importance until they are complete.
After your goals are written down, the next step is writing down your path to success.
You will not be able to accomplish these goals unless you know how to get there. So you will break down each goal, step by step, so that you know EXACTLY how you will achieve success.
This means everything it will take, detailed down to deadline dates, to make sure these goals will happen.
Your last step is simple… Tell everyone! Tell your family, spouse, best friends, co-workers and so on. The more people who know your goals, the better. You can only keep yourself accountable for so long until that devilish little voice in the back of your head tells you to back off and take it easy.
When you know that your closest friends and family are expecting you to achieve these goals, you’re more likely to make sure they get done.
Letting yourself down is one thing… but letting your boyfriend/girlfriend, mom, dad, and best friends is unacceptable. That’s why this simple step is so crucial.
So now its time to take action on the steps I’ve provided. There is so much potential growth to take advantage of in the New Year, so plan it out and take control.
