Macro’s, Calories, “Clean Eating”, Food Tracking Software, Going Keto, Intermittent Fasting, Paleo…
The fitness nutrition industry is literally flooded with fad diets and millions of opposing opinions on what is best for you and what will give us the best results.
One thing I’ve learned over years of training, dieting, and coaching hundreds of clients, is that most “diets” don’t really last.
I’ve seen so many people go through almost every single fad diet for a good 30 days… 60 at MOST.
Shit, I’ve gone through them too!
What results did I see? Well, I lost body fat during the time I was on each and every one of them – so they definitely worked. But I couldn’t sustain the process of dieting like that, so I gained it back and found myself confused and overwhelmed. Not knowing what was actually best for my body.
My biggest lesson from it all, was that completely restricting myself was not the answer. I know from scientific methods and years of studies, that calories in vs. calories out is actually what creates a surplus or deficit in our diets and causes us to lose body fat or gain muscle mass.
So I knew that I needed to cover that ground before worrying about supplements, meal timing, certain “super foods”, and all the other dogma out there that we all end up falling into.
Then “IIFYM” (If It Fits Your Macro’s) came out… It definitely caught my attention; I mean here are these jacked dudes eating Pop Tarts, ice cream, and Oreo’s all damn day! It was like a meathead’s dream comes true…
Not so fast…
The reality is that these guys don’t eat ONLY Pop Tarts and Whey Protein, if they did they would perform like shit in the gym, have horrid health measures, and would definitely be constipated from getting zero fiber.
That’s why I love the chart above and that is EXACTLY how I eat now and preach my clients to eat too. By simply having knowledge of where my calories should be and be coming from, I can eat “clean” and “dirty” while still losing body fat and gaining muscle mass.
This means I am able to improve my hormones and health measures by getting the nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed for body to thrive and survive. But I can also eat some of my favorite things like Sushi, Beer and Ketchup (yeah… I put that shit on everything) while still staying lean or even getting leaner.
But because I’m “in the trenches” of training and nutrition, I read studies, articles, books, get experience by helping clients transform their bodies, and attend seminars on fitness and nutrition… For fun – Yeah, I’m a geek like that. You’re welcome.
And I know damn well that I’m the outlier here – not many are practicing good balance, most are either “Clean Eaters” who will not touch a damn cookie or their “Hardcore Macro Counters” who push the limits by eating too much junk.
Which is exactly why I held a seminar where I broke down the what’s, why’s, how’s, and when’s of calorie counting, macronutrient basics for dieting, tracking food, your specific needs, alcohol consumption, cheat days, and everything in between.
Even break down how to NOT track macro’s, while still actually hitting your macro’s
[Yes, THAT ^^ is absolutely possible and I have MANY clients doing so].
So without further ranting on this subject, because I definitely can and if you would like to fire some questions my way -> Click HERE for a Free Discovery Call where we can break down your goals, needs, and fast track to getting there.
I give you the Nutrition Course… Enjoy!
