You’ve tried everything in the book, twice, and you still haven’t reached the fitness goal you set out for.
You’ve gone through every diet you’ve heard of, tried every workout plan and worked with tons of trainers.
You’ve tried the fat burners, cleanses and all the other supplements out there, that claim to get rid of that “unwanted fat”.
What in the hell is the problem then?! I’ll tell you the problem… consistency.
Consistency is the biggest factor when it comes to any diet or workout program. Most people try different diets, but stick to it for 1-3 months and give up because it’s not working. So it’s on to the next diet!
Well the truth is that it takes more than 3 months to see drastic changes in your body, especially if you have serious goals with fitness. On top of it taking time, you must be 100% on point all the time! No beatin’ around the bush and half ass’n it! You have to stick to the script everyday.
Now don’t get me wrong, you can’t just pick up any diet and expect it to work if you stay consistent with it. You still need to be on a great program, but you must practice and live that program every day until you see your results.
Putting short deadlines on your fitness goals is just asking for failure, not that you can’t achieve the goal by then but there’s a chance you will not which can destroy motivation in many people’s cases. There are many ways you can get there quick, but the results won’t stick around. When trying to accomplish your fitness goals, it should be a lifestyle you are trying to accomplish.
STICK TO THE SCRIPT
-This means exactly what it says. If your on a program that doesn’t allow caffeine, do not have any caffeine! If it says no grains, then no grains! Most people are allowed a specific amount of cheat meals during their diet programs, so it’s understandable on those days but other than that single meal you should not break the rules. And don’t turn your cheat MEAL into a cheat DAY! I used to be notorious for this and it bit me in the ass every time. Do whatever you got to do to make sure your always following the rules. This could be making lists of daily tasks, setting reminders, meal prepping, having somebody hold you accountable, post it online, eliminate all things unable to have during program, etc. There are many ways to stay compliant, it’s just about actually doing it.
TRUST THE PROCESS
-Trusting the process is going to be a huge factor when it comes to truly achieving the body and results you desire. Do not be in a hurry because life long results come from taking things step by step, and this can take a while sometimes. But if you can learn to enjoy the process and the journey of yourself growing, things will be much easier on you. I’ve always liked to think of it as a journey and how each week I’m closer to the finish line. But when I think of the finish line, I’m not thinking of next month, I’m thinking of next year or sometimes even more. This keeps me motivated to stick with my program and pushes myself to never let up. A great way to put this would be, look at yourself now.. compare this to how you were not long ago when you were not training and dieting.. if you’ve made a big progress that’s a big accomplishment, now imagine if you continue this for the next 3 years where you’ll be at. That keeps me motivated. Now if you haven’t started training or dieting, imagine yourself being able to look back and say to yourself that you’ve come a long way and your only going to go further. It’s a great feeling that you should always be chasing.
ACCOUNTABILITY
-Accountability is something that will hold you too your goals and won’t let you stray away from the map. A great way to have accountability is to tell everyone you know what you’re doing, post it online, have someone do it with you, or hire a trainer that cares enough to hold you accountable in and out of the gym. It is too hard to always hold yourself accountable, that’s why you need someone to tell you no or ask you why you’re doing that if it’s not on your program. If someone else is calling you out on our shit.. you’re not going to follow through with it, I can almost guarantee. And if you do still follow through with it, you don’t truly want the results you claim to want. At the end of the day you need to have a set of rules written out and understood, you must have someone else who knows these rules to hold you accountable. You also can’t complain when they call you out or when you have to do things you “don’t feel like doing”. If you really want those results, this shouldn’t be a problem or a surprise.
These are my three big rules when it comes to consistency and I myself along with my clients follow them 100%. It comes down to how bad you really want those results and what your willing to do for them. But at the end of the day you usually don’t have to do any ridiculous things to accomplish your goals, it’s just all those little things you need to consistently do throughout your life to make the change.
