Todays post is all about the most important question we need to ask ourselves on a more regular basis… What’s your “Why?”
Not many people really sit down to think about this, but in reality this little question is your drive, your motivation and your purpose to wake up each morning.
So ask yourself… Why do you do what you do? What motivates you to rise from bed and conquer the day? What makes you strive to grow?
Whether your job is your passion, your passion is your hobby, your goals of development in any area is your passion, or your passion is to help others find their own direction in these areas… You must know why.
If you look at the similarity in the sentence above, you’ll see its passion. Passion is everything. So first you must identify your passion, which will probably be easier than your why.
“Strong and barely controllable emotion.” –Passion
By definition passion is a barely controllable, strong feeling of emotion. So what is it in your life that you HAVE to do… you cannot control it, but you must continue it?
In a crazy way, for me that’s lift weights. I have to do it. Something in my head go’s nuts if I can’t continue to train hard. I know this is because it shows me constant and continuous growth mentally and physically. It also betters me internally and externally. It releases stress hormones and helps me deal with personal emotions.
Without exercise, shit… I don’t even know! I would literally go crazy I think!
So that tells me my passion, but what’s my why?
Maybe it’s my transformation story. Or maybe it’s because I can help others feel the same way I do when I train. Or maybe it’s so I can get the reward of hearing someone tell me I helped them in a way nobody else could. Maybe its just because I’m crazy.
So how do I figure it out? Well how about I just think about the first thing that comes to my mind when I wake up. That one thing that gets me out of bed and gets me fired up for the day….
It’s my clients. My clients are what get me fired up. Most people would think it’s my gym time or me getting bigger in the gym. But no, that’s easy. I can sleep in and get that done regardless. But my clients need something from me, something more.
Every morning I wake up they’re the first things to hit my mind. What can I do to get better for them? What would they want to hear on Facebook today? What would they want me to write about? What is their “Why”?!
They’re what make me strive to get better. I want to get bigger, stronger, and better so they have more faith in me as a coach to help them do the same. I want to attain more nutrition, fitness, and success knowledge to help coach them in a better direction in those avenues. It all comes back to one thing, helping others.
So I guess I realized my true passion isn’t to train hard or lift weights like I originally thought it was…. It’s to help others. Took a lot of hard thinking, but I realized what my why is.
My “Why” is to help others grow, get better, and be happier.
So my homework for you today is this, figure out your “Why”. I promise it will make you better.
