When I reflect back on all that I’ve been through in this lifestyle of fitness, from the training and dieting to the studying and coaching, I realize more and more that to achieve more, you actually need less…
I’m definitely the type of person who over thinks things. I dwell hard on failures and always push until I succeed, no matter what that takes. That’s a blessing and a curse at the same time.
I am the same when it comes to nutrition, I have always dug so deep to the science behind things to find out what is the absolute best macro ratio to achieve optimal fat loss or what the best meal timing is to achieve maximal protein synthesis for building the most muscle.
But now that I’ve read more, coached more people, studied a wider variety of knowledge, got certified, met better coaches, and applied more practices to my own personal lifestyle… I’ve learned that it always comes down to a few big principles, to achieve the best results.
Whether your goal is athletic performance, fat loss or building muscle. It’s always about building habits and staying consistent with your plan.
There is plenty of “Quick Fat Loss Schemes” and I can provide them, very easily.
But the sad part is that these quick systems don’t last, do not provide good health, and at the end of the program you just do not feel good or have the same satisfaction, as you will when you go through a lifestyle change.
Today I want to go over one of the biggest principles in dieting that will lead to results that will last.
This principle is Earth Grown Nutrients.
By this I mean consuming natures products, not the man made junk that we consume on a daily basis. Macro’s do not mean shit if all’s you eat to get those macros is “shit”.
As a coach, I do allow cheat meals and some freedom where my clients can have a Quest Bar every once in a while, go out for a burger with their significant others on occasion, or have a couple beers at a football game with their buddies.
That’s life, we need to be social and we need to have some relaxation from dieting sometimes. I think it’s crucial to do so, just to keep a normal level of sanity.
But I also believe that 90% of the time, or more, you should be only consuming foods and nutrients from the earth.
Things like Gluten Free Rolled Oats, Sprouted Grains, Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Fruits, Veggies, Lean Meat, Eggs, Fish, Avocados, Tree Nuts, and Oils.
These are Superfoods that lead to Optimal Health and Optimal Health leads to an Athletic, Lean and Muscular Body. Period. No one can argue against that fact.
If you can achieve this style of living, then you can focus on macros. But to be honest, if you focus on good habits and these foods, ONLY these foods, you will probably never even need to use macros unless your goal is extremely specific.
Why is this so important? Why can’t it be half and half? Are processed foods really that bad?
The human body is a magnificent creation; it was made millions of years ago… along with all these foods. That is the answer, to all three questions.
These are the foods are body’s are built to be fuel from. Processed foods have things in it that our bodies essentially just try to get rid of so they can abstract the good things we consume.
So when we put in a processed food product that has very little nutrient in it, all’s our body does is focus on fighting off that processed shit so it can utilize the nutrients.
So our bodies take in fewer nutrients, have to deal with more unnatural byproducts and the end product becomes a hormonally disrupted, overweight, and unhealthy human body.
The answer is simple, Earth Grown Nutrients.
That is why I love company’s like Onnit, they’re HUGE proponents of this concept and in a society that relies so heavily on supplements and quick fixes, they are that brand that provide Earth Grown Nutrient based supplements. So even when someone does resort to supplements, which I do believe in, they’re coming from the right place.
So I challenge you all to challenge yourselves to eliminate everything in your diet, besides Earth Grown Nutrient based foods.
Focus on the principles of my Handful Diet and only use these foods, then watch your body composition dramatically change and your health and well being feel better than it ever has before.
In fact, just to help you even more… I’m going to provide an example plan for what this type of dieting looks like… Actually, not “dieting”. What this type of “Lifestyle” looks like.
