It’s tough for us to say, but we will all someday be dead. Finished. Non-existent.
Damn! That sounds harsh… but it is the truth. Well, kind of….
If you become legendary, leave a legacy and live an incredible life you will in a way live forever.
That’s what I want. To be known and remembered for eternity and that’s why I strive to be great.
You may be saying, “Damn Boom-Boom, that’s deep! Where’s this coming from?!”
Let me back track a bit….
Last weekend I was at the Changing The Game Event in Las Vegas…. And it really did just that; it changed the game for many others and myself.
I can’t stop talking about it either! It changed my life in multiple ways, introduced me to so many new people, grew my knowledge and confidence in more avenues and that’s just the half of it.
But one huge thing I took from it that I want to express in my post today is, leaving a legacy.
Multiple speakers talked about this in their own way, but it made me ask myself the question over and over again… How will I leave my legacy after I die?
That really hit me hard. Made me realize I may be on the right track to leaving a legacy, but its just not enough. I know people will remember me when I die, that’s not the question.
But how many people will remember me? What for? How long will they continue to remember me? How will it change their lives? Will it continuously change their lives?
So after asking myself these questions, I realized what I love to do more than anything and want people to remember me for… Inspiration.
I love inspiring people and want to continue that long after I pass away. So just how will I do that?! Well, this post is a small start.
But I know exactly what I need to do to inspire people for life. I need to create a movement. That’s exactly what the Kaizen brand is about, inspiring positive change and improvement on a daily basis. So I’m pumped about that! It’s a great step towards legacy!
But I also know I inspire in other ways, at the gym. My job is being a coach, so I change lives on a daily basis. So I’m pumped about that as well!
But now I’m thinking… “Come on Cody, there’s gotta be more ways to inspire more people! Think!”
I know, I got to make this blog a bigger movement and get hundreds of thousands of subscribers so I can get more people reading. I need to right an e-book eventually. I need to coach more clients. I need to do more charity events. I need to sell more clothing. I need to speak at more schools and events…. Shit, I need to do a lot!
That’s ok though, I’m 21 so I got some time. But I still need to get on it!
But now I need to inspire YOU. I mean that’s really what this is about, inspiring YOU. The reader. Whoever you are, reading this right now, you’re who I am focused on helping and why I am writing an article at midnight…. Yeah its midnight and I’m in bed writing an article… This is what I love to do though! So it’s ok!
So ask yourself, “How will you be remembered?”. “Will you leave a legacy behind?”
Hopefully the answer was yes, with a description. But honestly, it probably wasn’t and that’s totally ok.
So start figuring it out. What is your job or current hobby? Can you spin that into a way to help thousands of people? Can you turn that into a way make an impact on the world? I’m sure you can, some way some how.
So that’s my task for you all today, figure out a way to impact as many people in your life as possible.
Remember, inspiration can be a domino effect. If I can just inspire one single person with this article, I am successful with my purpose here.
When someone makes a positive change in their life because of what you did or said to them, they will be noisy about it. By noisy I mean it will show with just about everything they do. They will talk about it, post social media statuses about it and eventually try to get others to act as they do.
Soon as they get someone else to act on it, they’re going to try to do the same thing. It keeps going and more and more people are reached through one single act of inspiration one of us has done.
This is extremely possible and is exactly what gets me out of bed every morning and fuels my passion.
The more people I can help, the more people will remember me. The more likely I am to leave a legacy. I know EXACTLY how I am going to leave a legacy and that is what fuels my purpose.
With that being said… there are two things I live by, a phrase and a quote.
The phrase is, “Momento Mori” – This means, “Remember your mortality”.
I love this because it reminds me that we do not live forever and that we have a limited amount of time on this earth to make a difference.
The other is this quote…
“The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering”– Bruce Lee
This reminds me that just because I will not live forever and I have a limited amount of time on this earth, it does not mean I cannot be remembered forever. If I spend this lifetime creating a legacy, I will live forever in spirit and memory.
What will you be remembered for? Are you creating a legacy?
