Katie Johnson

Nutrition Coach

Who Am I?

My name is Katie Johnson, and I am from Independence, Oregon. Growing up in Oregon, I have enjoyed exploring the outdoors with my family and friends. Favorite activities include hiking, camping, white water rafting, trail running, skiing, softball, volleyball, and kayaking. I was raised by a football coach father and ski racing, adventurous mother; from them, I was taught the importance of pursuing meaningful challenges.

My mission is to help clients achieve their optimal health and improve their life through training, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. My experience in nursing has deepened my passion for helping others achieve their health goals, avoid [or manage existing] chronic disease, and promote longevity and independence. It’s never too late or too early to implement health changes! Through my own physical transformation, I know the power of having a coach who understands, listens, empowers, and challenges you. Let’s do the damn thing!

Before I understood fitness or nutrition I…

I grew up as a year-round athlete, went to college for Exercise Science, led group fitness classes and remained physically active throughout my time in college. I developed an exceptional level of education and fitness, but I was not prepared for life after college. Fast forward a few years (through nursing school) and I gained approximately 60lbs. I did not recognize myself in photos or feel good in my body. At this point, I’ve learned so much about health, fitness, and nutrition, but wasn’t figuring it out on my own. At the time I lacked self-awareness of my behaviors, systems, standards, and emotional regulation strategies. As someone who has been through a physical transformation myself, I know how important it is to have someone guide you through the process. Now, I get to help others achieve the life they desire for themselves!

Why did you decide to become a coach?

My passion is to help others achieve their ideal level of health and fitness. This passion has existed within me since I was young and involved in team sports. I decided to become a coach when I made my own physical transformation. The level of empowerment, self-belief, and pride that I gained in my own transformation was unmatched! I started showing up differently for the people around me, walked taller, and performed with purpose. I wanted nothing more than to show others the power of a personal transformation.

What do you love most about helping others reach their goals?

Coaching allows me to provide individualized, tailored recommendations to clients that directly impacts the trajectory of their life. When a client reaches their goals, they are more confident and capable, and that transcends into other areas of life. A transformation extends beyond the physical results, and that’s not always obvious in the beginning. I love when clients realize that as a result of achieving their goals, they have gained a whole new set of skills and perspective.

Something fun about you?

I graduated from a super small high school– a class of 20 students!
